Alyssa Edwin is a sports coach at Lakewood Middle School. She teaches physical education classes and is the coach for all of the girls' soccer and tennis teams at Lakewood Middle School.
Appearance
Alyssa is a middle-aged petite woman with a muscular build. She has blonde hair that is usually tied into a ponytail. On game days, she dresses very feminine; she curls her hair and wears dresses with either heels or flats.
Personality
It is stated in First Experiences that Coach Edwin is an alumni of the University of Georgia and was very active when it came to athletics. Her experience and seriousness about sports certainly translates to her coaching. When people first meet Coach Edwin, she comes across as fierce and intimidating. She takes sports very seriously and puts a lot of pressure on her teams to win games. She is very careful of who she chooses to be on her teams. However, as people get to know her, they see that Alyssa is friendly and encouraging outside of her tough demeanor. She makes sure to complement her players on their strong skills and advise practice on their weak skills.
Relationships
Jessie Sanchez
Many of the girls on the soccer team believe that Coach Edwin favors Jessie. Though Coach Edwin insists that she treats all the girls equally, she pays the most attention to Jessie. Coach Edwin likes that Jessie is hardworking and has a determined attitude. Jessie reminds Alyssa of herself, which she likes. Throughout the series, Alyssa forms a close bond with the student and remains close with her even when she leaves Lakewood.
